It provides a comprehensive body of data on the labor force, employment, unemployment, persons not in the labor force, hours of work, earnings, and other demographic and labor force characteristics.

- CPS data is available through both the Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics websites. The BLS site provides tables and text (HTML or PDF), as well as compressed flat files for those wanting to download the entire database. The Census site provides the data as tables or as download via file transfer protocol (ftp) in several zipped formats, as well as providing access through two applications -- CPS Table Creator and DataFerrett.
